Acting Before Diabetes Starts: The PRAESIIDIUM Call to Action

Dicembre 19, 2025

The end of the PRAESIIDIUM Project is not the end of the journey, it is a moment to act.

PRAESIIDIUM was created with a clear goal: to prevent type 2 diabetes by addressing prediabetes, a stage in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal but the disease has not yet developed. Prediabetes represents a crucial opportunity, a window where timely action can stop type 2 diabetes before it starts.

This message was shared with the wider community during an interview on the local TV program “Trieste In Diretta”(aired on January 7) on Telequattro S.R.L (Trieste Italy). During the interview, Natalia Rosso from the Fondazione Italiana Fegato, a partner in the project, presented the main results of PRAESIIDIUM and underlined an essential point: real and lasting change happens only when science, policy, and people work together.

Thanks to scientific research, we now know that the path from prediction to prevention is within reach. But knowledge alone is not enough. Preventing type 2 diabetes requires collaboration among researchers, healthcare professionals, decision-makers, and citizens. It calls for shared responsibility and a collective commitment to healthier choices, supportive policies, and accessible prevention programs.

This moment represents one of many steps toward a future where type 2 diabetes can be prevented before it takes hold. The call to action is clear: by working together, we can turn prevention into reality and protect health before disease begins
