Praesidium Partners at Trieste Next 2025: Exploring the Future of Diabetes Prevention

Settembre 26, 2025

Praesidium Partners will be present at the upcoming edition of Trieste Next, taking place from 26 to 28 September 2025 in Trieste. Among the highlights, a compelling roundtable discussion will be held on 27 September at 11:30 AM, titled: “Diabetes Prevention: Merging Clinics and Computation.”

The session will be conducted by Dr. Fiorella Operto from Scuola di Robotica and will feature contributions from leading experts in research and medicine:

  • Dr. Alessia Paglialonga – CNR-IEIIT
  • Dr. Pablo Giraudi – Fondazione Italiana Fegato
  • Dr. Jeļizaveta Sokolovska – Latvia University
  • Dr. Renald Mecani – University of Graz

The roundtable aims to share insights from the Horizon Europe PRAESIDIUM project (GA 101095672), which demonstrates how combining smart technologies, explainable AI, and clinical research can significantly improve health outcomes, particularly in the prevention of diabetes.

Diabetes is a chronic disease affecting 1 in 11 adults in Europe and ranks as the third leading cause of death. The good news is that prevention works. Prediabetes can often be reversed with simple lifestyle changes, especially when guided by AI-powered insights.

During the discussion, the panelists will explore how data and computational models—integrating AI and physics-based equations—can enhance early prediction and prevention of prediabetes across Europe. This is an opportunity for the general public and the scientific community alike to discover how cutting-edge technology and clinical expertise can join forces to tackle one of Europe’s most pressing health challenges.
